Eating high quality food is too expensive.
Spending thousands a year on dental insurance coverage and twice as much as we should on our taxes is not sustainable. The current healthcare spend is 40% of the Canadian governments budget. This number is absurd and should be immediately diverted towards funding regenerative agriculture and regenerative livestock management. This could easily make healthy food affordable. We can make this decision for the government if we simply refuse to eat the garbage subsidized crops and started consuming nutrient rich animal based diets.
Genetics are mostly to blame for human disease. Making lifestyle changes probably wont do much so why bother trying.
My friend eats pizza, coke and chicken nuggets every weekend and appears to be fine so i am going to do it to. Comparisons like this are unfair because those around us live in different home environments and work lifestyles that shapes different genetic expression therefore genetics play a much smaller role than previously thought. While true that some genes can make us more resistant to pizza, coke and chicken nuggets that is not a good reason to do so. We must not always live on the edge of our genetic susceptibility's if we are to live extraordinary lives.
No one can even agree on what is healthy and what is not, we are too confused to know what is right.
Humans have prized ruminant animal meat, dairy and fruit for thousands of years with clear connections to robust health in tribes like the Inuit, Maasai, Nenets, Hadza, Sami and Aboriginal Australians. Especially in those tribes who have persisted with their traditional hunter gatherer lifestyles and not succumbed to the industrial farming products of modern society. Their should be no confusion, these are not anecdotal stories or numbers in scientific studies, these are real people and cultures who have existed for thousands of years. Who are we to deny their existence and robust time tested knowledge and wisdom. These are the real blue zones, imagine these types of lifestyles were adopted in developed countries with access to sanitation and clean drinking water. Disease would be non-existent. The challenge is that these people are more deeply connected and cooperative than we are so this could be why they are able to sustain healthier lifestyles, because they do so together.
Eating high quality meals is not convenient, it takes too much time to cook a quality meal.
Eating food is not something we should do when we have time to do it, it must be priority number one, we should take the time to create experiences around food and not only share the eating portion together but also cook together. Kids want to be a part of the process and when we deny them the ability to help out in the kitchen it sends the message that we dont need their help when in reality we absolutely cannot do it all on our own. Try not to micro manage them but ask them what they would like to help out with in the kitchen, this will develop their autonomy and you may not even need to ask them to help if your a good boss. It will at the least be one less thing for you to be occupied by.
I want to have fun in my life and "live a little".
Spending the last 5 to 20 years of our lives in a decrepit state not able to take care of ourselves is not a dignified way to complete our lives on this planet. Living long is of less importance than living well and this is currently not possible under the current health regime. It would be great to retain cognitive and muscular performance so that we can stay active with our families into old age.
Eating healthy is socially awkward and leads to social isolation.
This is perhaps the deal if we are not actively sharing our food culture, however i think others might also get used to you bringing a glass food container to gatherings when you perhaps do not want to eat pop chips, pizza and cake. Perhaps with enough health and resilience it will be possible to enjoy cake again without it costing your health.
"Healthy eating" does not taste good.
This can be partly do to taste bud reprogramming by cheap palatable processed garbage, food that has no soul. Abundant foods like ruminant animal meat, fruit, raw whole milk and raw honey are the pinnacle of not only taste but also health. They singal prosperity to the cells of our body and reduce cortisol, the hallmark of aging.
Modern Medicine will save us, we do not need to take responsibility for our poor lifestyle choices.
We must regain control of our health and not have a dependance on pharmaceutical band aids. Statins, metformin, diuretics and glucocorticoids correct lab numbers not complex biological human beings. We must refuse the toxins that contribute to neurotransmitter and bioenergetic abnormalities and so that we do not become depressed for the rest of our lives.
